WeOrder and MenuLab partner up to bring EU compliant allergy information to restaurants
London, September 23rd, 2014 – WeOrder LTD (ordering platform for food & drink serving venues) and MenuLab (food analysis and allergen tracking platform developed by Social Change Ltd) join forces to bring allergenic information to your restaurant menu.
Given the uptrend around a healthier lifestyle, now more than ever, people want to eat healthily especially when eating out at their favourite restaurant, during their lunch break, or even if they are having just a quick snack.
Eating habits have changed radically over the past couple of years and Europe is taking this into account with a major update at the “EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation 1169/2011” . This update will require food and catering businesses in Europe to list allergenic information from 13th December 2014 on packaged and unpackaged food sold in catering outlets, hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafés, diners and takeaways.
“The WeOrder platform already provides restaurants and food serving venues with an easy way to let their customers see the menu and take orders with their smartphones, so it was a natural choice for us to partner with MenuLab as soon as we realized how useful their food analysis services could be for our users.” Says Mark Bech Fries, CEO of WeOrder.
“WeOrder seems like a perfect match for MenuLab, since our upcoming platform’s API will easily allow third party software to quickly integrate with our food analysis and allergens tracking services and this is probably the easiest way to allow food serving venues to become compliant with the upcoming EU regulation about food allergens.” Says Kelly Evans, Director of MenuLab – a service offered by Social Change UK.
